Hey RoadTrain! I read your PM at the MM2 forum, are you planning on making a ZM2/3 filter?

Reinhard, nope, filters are not part of SDK and no source code was released. I've used to supply some low-usage filters code to be used as a reference and never supply filters to someone for researching file format specs or anything related.

RoadTrain4eg wrote:PS. which VS should I use to work with SDK?

at least VS 2005. I'm not sure whether newer VS will suit, since it might link your plugin against newer libraries and other unrelated stuff.

If you succeed, I'll supply you a .lib and .h file to relink a plugin for 2.2.6. I don't want to update skd at the moment.

By the way, do you have any ZM2 filter example source code? it's always easy to reside a fitler on existen plugin code, than composing and setting up it from scratch.

Ok it's clear now.

Oh you gave it to me way back and it was left at my old PC. Now it would be nice if you give this code once more
Maybe it's worth uploading it to the main SDK thread :P

PS. which VS should I use to work with SDK?

The following may sound stupid, but I never even downloaded the SDK, nor have I any plans to work on a filter.

Are the filter sources part of the SDK? The above statement let me at least guess that. And it gave me the idea that I could learn something of the SCS PMG internals for ETS and later. Oleg, where can I get the ConvoyPMG filter code, if available to the public?

Or did you just mention third-party filters?

2.2.5, while the latest is 2.2.6

Sure I know it's for ZM1, this source is needed only to learn the file format :)

Thanks.
And is the ZM2 SDK at the site the latest? I downloaded it and saw that zmodeler2.lib was dated 17 feb 2011.

Oleg, maybe you release any info of the MM2 file format and someone makes the filter?
I mean the source of ZM1 filter, any docs that you could've saved at your PC?

Oh.. Well.. MM2 is really still taking off, also there are l160 downloads of a car a day.. One releasted 2 hours ago has 170, I also found out some secrets in mm2, including how BBND and TER work...

Re: ZM3 : Bring back mm2!

Post by Oleg » Mon Jan 23, 2012 11:34 pm

it could take the same time as writing code from scratch. it's zm1 filter code, there are no common code with zmodeler2, it's completely different. Inspite of this reason, no ZM1 filters were porpted to ZM2.

mm2 filter will not be ported to ZM3. at least I'll not do it.

MM2 Should take 30 minutes to recreate, just port the source with some edits...

There are two high-priority filters in a list of must have at the moment:
- ETS2
- rFactor2
- Shift2
None of these were under research yet;

And a couple of filters that are probably should be taken care of:
- TDU2
- FlatOut3

Both are expected to be easy enough for porting/creating

And finally, the lowest priority, but the one that I really would like to make is Mafia2 filter.

So, I don't see old MM2 thing in this list at all. Do you? :P

Also,to jog your memory, the header of a PKG file starts with "FILE"

in code you had
= [F]
= [I]
= [L]
= [E]

Of course supporting the idea of having MM2 filter in ZM3, don't forget the other classic games aswell! The communities are very strong and not gonna die that soon, for example people still mod and love Need for Speed: High Stakes.

Back on the thread, in fact only needed are small improvisations on import/export and allowing more paintjobs :)

Re: ZM3 : Bring back mm2!

Post by aaro4130 » Sat Dec 31, 2011 5:14 pm

I think many of them would, and I talk to many of my friends who mod mm2 also mod other games, and they hate switching 2 interfaces (zm2 and zm1) and they have legitimately paid for the software, so they would definately mod mm2 with it :) . Also, I am getting a credit card soon so I will definately buy it.

Also, the PKG filter has many bugs atm and that can be fixed to make the filter better :)

+ You can add error checking

E.G On export:

Your vehicle does not have a MEDIUM LOD for your fender, are you sure you want to continue? (fenders cause errors with no M or L LOD)
Your vehicle is missing a shadow, are you sure you want to continue? (crashes game)
Your vehicle has unrecognized objects! Are you sure you want to continue? (crashes game)
Your vehicle has too many paintjobs (a prop appears in the car at times)
You may want to add headlights! (warning only no error)
The vehicle is missing a BODY_H! The vehicle could not be exported (serious error crash game)
NOTE : You have SRN objects, you need addon_vehtypes in the game! (crash game if not)

I would absolutely love this, you have the Zm1 PKG code and could upgrade it, and fix the memory bug, MAYBE you could even add a LOCK system to it (e.g. if the PKG file has a "lock_H:M" object or soemthing :)

Besides, it would take 30 miuntes at the most to port zmod3, and fix mem glitches right?

look at the subject from the other angle - will mm2 modders pay for zmodeler3 if they have free zmod1 and "almost free" zmod2? I doubt. So, why should I put effort into this direction?

Yes I absolutely agree with this. MM2 is still alive. Check out mm2x. There's alot of new mods being made so its not yet dead Oleg.

I would also like ZM3 MM2 Import/Export filter. As I've been playing MM2 for years. And find ZM1 outdated for modeling compared to ZM2 or what comes in ZM3.

Yes, but let's try importing a model... CRASH -_-

hmm, maybe let's try exporting.... 50% CRASH

Let's try importing a model and modiying it ... Click CRASH

It has a few issues that need to be sorted, and alot of people I have talked to say if mm2 comes to ZM3, sure they'll buy the full version!

P.S. Sorry if this looks negative, just trying to state where they happen

Hey Oleg, could you bring back the Midtown Madness 2 filter, many people still mod the game, and the file is easy to read.. As long as you release a SDK though I could make one for ZM3.
